Girls Inc. Programs
All programs are researched-based and age appropriate. Offered through a network of 1,000 sites nationwide and are facilitated by trained professional staff.
This program gives girls the skills to choose healthy alternatives to substance abuse. Girls learn decision-making, assertiveness, and communication skills that include how to walk away from situations where they feel pressured to engage in risky behaviour. Through games, group discussions and role plays, girls learn about the importance of being an effective communicator as it relates to peer pressure. They begin to recognize media pressure to act a certain way and develop better ways to manage stress.
Girls and women in the community come together and celebrate their heritage as leaders. Girls develop their own leadership skills through hands-on activities, role-plays and community exploration. Girls begin to recognize their own leadership qualities and respect the leadership qualities of others.
Action for Safety™
Girls learn to lead safer lives by developing skills and strategies for self-defense, including physical techniques. They learn to distinguish between an irritating, provocative or insulting situation and a dangerous one and determine an appropriate response.
Girls learn to critically analyze what they see, hear, and read in the media, and create images that are more realistic and reflective of their lives.
